Good morning St. Patrick Alumni Family and Friends.  It has been 85 long days since we have all been able to be together.  We have had a lot of circumstance that have happened in those 85 days.  We were not able to be together for our St. Patrick Day Event, We were not able to share the holiest time of year together and we lost some dear friends during this tragic situation.   It has been a very difficult time for everyone.   When we last emailed everyone the State of New York had 173 total confirmed cases of COVID-19 as it stands today there has been 350,121 positive cases of COVID-19  and 22,619 deaths.  Some will argue this totals. Saying that they were not all COVID-19 deaths that these individuals had underling conditions that caused their deaths and  that it is all a political game.  The fact is there were 22,619 souls taken from us during these 85 days whether or not it was linked to the virus the fact is these souls all died alone and with out their love ones.  The families and friends did not get to say good bye.  These souls did not have the send off that they deserved.   It is now time we put all our opinions aside and pray for all the lost souls that have been taken from us and we pray that this nation can put all its difference aside to help all in need.  Please know that we are thinking of all of you and you are all in our prayers and thoughts.   If anyone is in need of help you can always reach out to Catholic Charities of The Diocese of Albany.  We have provided a link below.  Once you click on the link scroll to the bottom and click on the county you live in.  Catholic Charities help with Food & Nutrition, General Help and emergency Assistance, Shelter & Low income Housing, Substance Abuse Prevention, Children & Adults with Intellectual Disabilities, Service for Seniors and much more.

We will continue to monitor the situation but for now we will not be having any services until July 12th. this is suppose to be our annual picnic.  There are many factors that will be consider in whether or not we will be able to have the picnic.  One main factor is if the State allows gatherings of more than 10 people.  The other factor is if the venue opens for business with gatherings.  Right now we are still planning to have it but we will not jeopardize anyone's health or safety.

We will continue to keep everyone updated on the situation as things unfold, so please make sure to check for updates VIA email, website , facebook pages, Community of St. Patrick's Church of Troy, NY and/or The Community of St. Patrick's Troy, New York.   Please see below some tips below to prevent illness.     Psalm 46:1  God is our refuge and our strength. An ever present help in times of trouble.  God Bless and have a great week we can not wait to see everyone again. Father Dave Jones and St. Patrick Alumni Committee.

Tips in helping to avoid the spread of Illness:

The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. However, as a reminder, CDC always recommends everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, including:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
Good morning St. Patrick's Alumni, Family and Friends,

We hope this message finds everyone well.  It is hard to believe that we are going on nine years that our church doors were closed.   What is amazing is how strong our St. Patrick's Family bonds have been.   A huge thank you goes out to so many people from our group for all their contribution. We have had a lot of losses since the closing of our church which has been so sad. Please let's take a minute to remember all our St. Patrick's Alumni who have passed away and the 36 Alumni listed below who have passed away since the closing of our church in 2010.  They are all deeply missed.

James F. Baker, Marie Davey, Diane Spinelli, Rev Brian Cronin, John Campbell, John Mahar, Joseph Stasack, Joseph Ienco, William Ahearn, Norine Murray, Joseph Connors, Helen Corrigan Wright, Roger Ayotte, Carol Purtell, Joyce Gordon, Dolores Finn, Michael Horan, Sister Elizabeth Ann OBryan, Margaret Hayner, Marvin Hayner. SR., Thomas J Cooley, Sister Carol Anne Porter, Veronica (Ronnie) Norton, Robert Murray, Francis Murray, Dorothy Bartoski.   Robert (Bob) Zellweg, James A Risley, Glenn Liney, William Wells, Robert Gordon, Thomas M. Riley, Patricia Simmons Mitola, Janet Wells, Robert Elden, and John P Norton.

First off we would like to thank all the Alumni and Family and Friends. If it was not for you and attendance to all our events we would not be as strong as we are.  A special thank you goes out to Father David Jones he really is an inspiration to us all.  Special thank you to Anthony Perniciaro from McLoughlin & Mason if not for his generosity for letting us use his facility to hold our mass every day and every special event we could not have stayed so strong.  To all the committee members that make all the arrangements, and for all the mass services thank you.

The committee met, and we are finalizing the 2019 calendar. It will be up shortly on the website  As our group gets smaller and smaller it is harder and harder to get venues that we can afford last year we were able to secure the Lansingburgh Boys and Girls Club. We would like to thank Michael Manupella and his staff for their continued support.    This year our St. Patrick's Day Celebration will again take place at the Lansingburgh Boys & Girls Club, 501 4th Ave, Troy NY 12182. It will be a mass followed by a bring your own Irish dish to share. The Alumni will be providing the Corn Beef, Potatoes, Cabbage, Carrots, Beverages, Paper Products.  We will still need to have RSVP only to make sure we have enough Corn Beef, beverages, and supplies.  The flyer for the event is also attached to this email.    The facility is handicap accessible.  We are hoping for a great turn out and have a lot of fun.  We will have 3 other major events this year.  Our Easter Celebration, Summer Picnic, and Christmas Party.  Please check the website for details on the events.

Just a reminder we be having a Mass Service for Ash Wednesday please see details below. God Bless and Have an Enjoyable Day!

Messages from Rev, David  J Jones, M.M.

Dear Alumni members of St. Patrick’s, Family and Friends,

Let us pray for Mike Horan who died this morning.  I will say Mass for him at Mass tomorrow, Wednesday and also on Thursday. He was very good to us when we began to say Mass after July 1, 2010 at his Riverview Funeral Home. He was a great help at St. Patrick's.

Rev, David J Jones, M.M.

Last week I took bags of cloths etc. for Joseph House. The staff of Joseph house were very happy to receive so many goods for the members at Joseph house. I informed the people at Joseph House that the various goods we gave them were from former members of St. Patrick’s Troy. They were very pleased. Thank you all who have given much for the people at Joseph house.

I  would like to send out a special thank you to all of the St. Patrick Alumni Family that help support the tuition assistance for one child to  attend St. Augustine School who would not have been able to afford it.   Thank you to Lisa Dillon for logistics of collecting and delivering!

St. Augustine School principal Patricia Bolmer and Deborah A Webster sent a thank you note.    Click HERE to see the Thank you Note
